I’m Here – A Poem

Oct 13, 2017 / Posted By Knoll Care Partnership

“I’m Here…” – A poem about Dignity in Care for the person that matters

I am still a person although my actions and words may not make sense

It’s just something’s seem complicated to me, doesn’t mean that I’m stupid or dense

I ask you don’t treat me as another number a person in care

I’m a person who needs to be treated with respect and dignity that’s fair

I am frightened and confused and not sure what’s going on

So please don’t assume that my faculties’ have gone

There are times when I can recognise special people and their faces

And remember special thoughts and memories of times and places

I need your help, your care and complete reassurance

To know that I can spend the rest of my days happy getting through this

I was like you once, you know, and wish I was still today

But unfortunately life has dealt the cards and I’ve ended up this way

So please understand I’m not stupid, nor a child or mad

I’m just a person who is confused, frustrated and sad

And so I am asking please be there for me and make me smile

Make the rest of my life happy, special and worth while

Thoughts of our Customers

  • Bowfell House is purpose built to cater for all the needs of the residents. While it is a lovely building ....... it is the staff that make you feel secure in the knowledge that your loved one is being well looked after

    Daughter of a Resident

  • Bowfell is a sparkling new state of the art care home which continues to keep hold of the traditions set by Fairways. The attention to detail is second to none, in fact .... I would like to reserve a room! Over the last few weeks I have found myself dancing, singing and playing the maracas, what a great atmosphere for the residents and their close family

    Son of a Resident

  • I cannot praise ALL the staff highly enough for their excellent care and compassion towards my mum.  The home is spotless and the atmosphere is calm and welcoming.  My mum has improved with her mobility, and eating since moving in. Our Family have been involved in all care making decisions for mum and welcomed when we visit. You should all be very proud :)

  • Our Sister has settled well and is thriving in the fabulous environment that is Bowfell. I could speak of the surroundings, food and hairdressing all of which are first class but it is the amazing staff who are the reason I felt the need to contact you. Every level of staff have contributed to a perfect whole.

    Sister of a Resident

  • My Sister has been a resident firstly at The Knoll and now at Bowfell House since September 2019. From the first moment we visited the staff shone like a beacon on a very dark day. Their sense of commitment, empathy and dedication was palpable. They were in a class of their own. The understanding shown to me and all my sister's family as we faced the very difficult decision to entrust our Sister to their care has been amazing.

    Sister of a Resident

  • My mother has only been a resident in Bowfell house since mid-November and we have had nothing but exceptional care and service from all the team starting with the warm welcoming smile on arrival from Vicky to the housekeepers. The carers have cared for mum with dignity and warmth which has been a blessing for my sister and myself. It is good to know who to speak to with any feedback but so far everything is fabulous.
